About Me

Darren Hudson
Fairview, TN, United States
After completing my studies in drafting and working in residential and commercial construction for many years, I decided to start my own design company. I began designing professionally in July of 2002, and I continue to enjoy every day. I am grateful for the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dream of designing homes. I named my company Variant Aspects (different ideas) because I really enjoy being creative with the vision my client presents to me while staying within their budget. Whether it invovles designing decks, sun rooms, screened-in porches, additions, garages, garage apartments, basements or attics, or homes that range from 1,000 to 10,000 square feet, each job is as exhilarating as the last. With my experience in the construction field, I am able to avoid the pitfalls of many who draft building plans but have no experience in the actual building process. This has allowed me to save the builder time and the client money. I have several builders that depend on me, so if you do not have a builder yet I would be happy to give you recommendations.

FAQ

Are you a licensed architect?
No, I am not a licensed architect. Think of me as a glorified draftsmen.

Should I be concerned that you are not a licensed architect?
Not at all! The rule is, I can design anything residential and provide my client with all the drawings necessary for pricing, construction and permits. The only thing I am not allowed to design are commercial projects. Those will need and architectural stamp.Do you charge less than an architect?Yes! A typical architect (that's good) will charge $90.00 per hr and up. I charge $65.00 per hr.

How do I know your as qualified as an architect?

I have been in the construction field, building houses and commercial projects, for over 15 years. Most architects have never put on a tool belt. I have been wearing a huge tool belt for quite some time now.

Can you help me find a builder?

Absolutely! I have many builders I trust to refer my clients to on a regular basis.

Can you give me references?
Sure!
